About the Facility

The Sea Life Facility (SLF) provides a range of services and infrastructure supporting research and education at Texas A&M University at Galveston. Our student staff is involved in the day-to-day husbandry of aquatic and marine organisms and live feed cultures (phytoplankton and zooplankton), water quality monitoring, and life support system operation and maintenance for faculty, graduate student and undergraduate student-driven research projects. Student technicians and interns also pursue professional certifications as life support operators and water quality technicians in partnership with the Aquatic Animal Life Support Operator organization. Emphasis on technical skills, problem-solving, and leadership ensure our students are well-prepared to enter careers in aquarium science, aquaculture, veterinary medicine, marine animal rehabilitation and animal research.
