About the Award

Young Alumni are building a brighter future for the university through their dedication of time, talent, and energy. The Marine Sciences and Maritime Studies Young Alumni Award is presented annually to a former student of one of the departments of the College of Marine Sciences and Maritime Studies who has demonstrated outstanding professional achievement or endeavors, exemplifying the core values of Texas A&M University and the educational training from the College of Marine Sciences and Maritime Studies towards the advancement of the greater good.

The Marine Sciences and Maritime Studies Young Alumni Award is reserved for those who graduated in a College of Marine Sciences and Maritime Studies major less than 10 years prior, attending the university as an undergraduate or graduate student to the attainment of a degree and is living at the time of consideration.

Qualifications

  • Outstanding Marine Sciences and Maritime Studies graduates within the last 10 years are eligible.
  • Enrichment of some aspect of the College of Marine Sciences and Maritime Studies community through continuing dedication, advocacy and support.
  • Demonstrable commitment to the ongoing vitality of the University.
  • Advancement of the value and in their achievements within their profession.
  • Significant voluntary contributions of energy, time, creativity, and skills for the advancement of community welfare, discovery, education, social or government service.
  • Former students employed by the University are not eligible during their term of employment.

Nomination Guidelines

The college actively seeks nominations through internal and external communications, the College of Marine Sciences & Maritime Studies website and the Sea Aggie Former Student Network, a constituent network of The Association of Former Students.

  • A completed nomination form. This form includes the nominator and nominee’s names and contact information.
  • A one-page cover letter summarizing why the nominee meets the criteria for the award.
  • A brief biography of the nominee.
  • A resume or curricula vitae (CV) listing the nominee’s qualifications, including educational affiliations, degrees received (including honorary degrees), career accomplishments or professional awards, noteworthy research and publications and/or public service.
  • Optional: Up to two (2) letters of support from individuals other than the nominator. Each letter should be at most two pages in length.

Submit your Nomination

Nominations will only be considered once a completed nomination packet has been submitted and received by the College of Marine Sciences and Maritime Studies.
