Program Structure

Credit Requirements

  • JD Degree: Minimum of 90 credit hours
  • MBAA Degree: Minimum of 36 credit hours
  • Up to 9 credit hours of law courses can be applied toward the MBAA degree.
  • Up to 15 credit hours of MBAA courses can be applied toward the JD degree.
  • A maximum of 15 credits can be double-counted for both degrees.

Study Timeline

  1. Years 1 & 2: Begin your studies at the School of Law in Fort Worth, Texas, focusing on the JD program.
  2. Year 3: Transition to the MBAA program in Galveston, Texas, making it your primary focus for the year.
  3. Year 4: Return to the School of Law to complete the JD program, with opportunities for coursework and practical training in maritime business administration.

Admission Requirements

  • Separate Applications: Apply independently to both the School of Law and the Maritime Business Administration graduate programs.
  • Admission Criteria: Meet the individual admission requirements for each program. Admission decisions are made independently by each program.
